PEER ALLY & SUBSTANCE USE SUPPORT

Since AJ was young, she has been curious about how the mind works. She has 22 years of navigating mental health struggles and substance abuse. Working in the field of recovery has been eye opening and played a part in cultivating a passion for helping others connect with resources.

JESSICA GARCIA, LMHCA (she/they)

MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDER

Jessica received her counseling education in Richmond, VA and has been a resident of the Jefferson County community since 2016. Her varied work experience has shaped her professional goals and career path - rekindling the spirit of her initial interest in the field of psychology. This began when she was 17 years old and realized that she would like to provide more effective services to youth than she had received herself.

Jessica strives to show up authentically and pulls from a blend of humanistic and cognitive modalities. She utilizes a variety of evidence-based techniques - such as those from dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness - to assist young adults in recognizing their capacities, setting/achieving their goals, overcoming challenges, and finding meaning in their lives. Jessica has a great respect for OWL 360’s mission and all that they have already accomplished in such a short time. She’s excited to be a part of their team and grow with the organization as they support more young people together every year.
